AC Milan coach Stefano Pioli has revealed after the 1-0 win over Sampdoria on the first of the season that the team are now at their best.

Milan, who finished runners-up last season The new season started on three points with a 1-0 win over Sampdoria thanks to an early goal from Braim Diaz. 

Pioli said after the game: “It’s great to see the fans on the pitch again because we know they will welcome us with enthusiasm. We know there are many ways to play. But it’s the spirit that can make a difference.”

“Sampdoria defended well. But the way we move Diaz downwards gives us the edge in midfield and we don’t just lose the ball on a regular basis.
